*********************************************

When we fought at Yesterday,
We stained the field,
With the cries of youth,
The battlefield,
Of innocence lost,
When dreams were shattered,
By the clash of pain.

Warriors, we stood,
Alone, we brothers,
In the fields,
Each bearing,
Wounds unseen,
Untold,
Our hearts heavy,
With the weight of sorrow,
Our minds a battleground,
Of fear and despair.

Among them, I,
I was there,
Just a soldier, one of many,
Silent witness,
To the horrors of war,
The screams, the tears,
The endless night,
Lost in the chaos,
How to get out?

Dark the days,
Darker the nights,
Endless tragedy,
Etched in each breath,
Devastation,
Of a life,
Of scars that bleed,
A heart,
Aching with every beat.

When comes a time,
A glimmer of light,
A whisper of hope,
In the silence of my soul.
When I open,
To life, to love,
To the beauty of living,
The joy of feeling.
Of breathing,
Of being.

Slowly,
The healing,
A process of grace,
Through wisdom gained,
Through knowledge and pain,
To learn to embrace,
To accept, to forgive,
To forget Yesterday,
To live in Today.

Now,
Day is here,
Bright is the sun,
A testament to the journey,
Within,
To the fight,
I stand,
A survivor,
No wars, no more,
I live in freedom,
I am human, being.

The battle of Yesterday is behind me now,
A memory, a lesson, a part of my tale.
From it is wisdom, gained hard expense.

For in the ashes of the past,
I found my strength,
In the light of the present,
I found myself.
In the day,
I found life,
And in this moment,
I found love.
