Shiny Object Syndrome — Day 4–100 Day Challenge: Zero to $10k a Day!
My day started the same… ☕📖
Bible study with coffee and oatmeal for breakfast. 🥣
I was excited, I was really looking forward to the day. 😄
“This is so cool! What project am I going to work on today?” I thought to myself. 🤔
And then I received the notification.
It was from my coach Alen. 📲
“The reason people don’t make sales,” he said, “is that people try to do too many things at once, or they are inconsistent. They start one thing, then another, then another.”
“You have to stick with one thing:
1 plan
1 strategy
1 product
1 platform”
💥 Boom! 💥
Although this was sent out to all his coaching students, this message certainly resonated with me.
What am I doing?
Exactly what he said — doing it all, doing this, then that, then another. 😵💫
Anything but… the one thing. 🚦
Another coach, Billy Gene, put it this way:
“Shiny object syndrome is jumping from one thing to another, something new, instead of focusing and finishing the job we have now.”
“It’s not “a shiny object,”” Billy Gene said, “it’s quitting as soon as something gets hard.” 🔨
Wow. 🤯
They are both so right. ✅
I’ve started a million projects in my life. 📝
A few I have actually followed through on and finished. 🎯
But not many. 😬
Usually, at the first sign of trouble, at the first big obstacle, at the first roadblock that’s in my way — I jump ship. 🚢💨
I quit that project and find another.
No wonder I’m broke with an income just barely able to support my family. 💸
No wonder I’m living far short of my potential. 🎯
No wonder I’m living so far short of my dreams. 💭
No wonder at all.
